Heather and I visited Mallory Square in Key West while Rob and Andy went to a dive museum. We went to a cute little gift shop filled with beautiful things and we bought two cute little mermaid magnets for the fridge. We also went to the Ron Jon Surf Shop in Key West. We came all the way from Jersey where Ron Jon has it's original store in Long Beach Island and we go to one in the Keys ~ funny! While at Mallory Square we walked to the pier where every night they have a party and watch the sunset. We were leaving to return to Key Largo that day so we were unable to watch the sunset from the pier. Too bad the night before was overcast and we didn't get to see a Key West sunset ~ disappointing. There are lots of fun places and things to do in Key West and we had a great time!

A Beautiful Day

Ernest Hemingway
We visited Ernest Hemingway's home in Key West. It was a beautiful old home which was surrounded by a brick wall. We were told the bricks used to build the wall came by ship. They would start building the wall until they ran out of bricks and would stop until more bricks came which could be months. It took a long time to build the wall because the property was the length of the block. The bricks were all different sizes. We didn't go into the house but enjoyed seeing it. I used a layout from Inspired Blueprints for this page.
Blue Heaven
This two page layout was done using a Let's Scrap sketch. I used Stampin Up! papers and lots of embellishmentsby Jillibean Soup and Jenni Bowlin. While in Key West it was recommended to us by our hotel to have breakfast at a restaurant called Blue Heaven. Even though it was close to 90 degrees and humid we walked there from our hotel. Boy was it hot! When we got there, we ate outside under an umbrella and a huge tree gave the whole place shade. There were chickens walking all around and everyone was feeding them scraps. Heather and I had homemade yogurt and granola with fruit. It was delicious and the best we'd ever had. The restaurant had a lot of character and was very old. We really enjoyed it. We were told that they used to hold boxing matches there and Ernest Hemingway would officiate at them. After breakfast we walked over to Ernest Hemingway's home and across the street was the Key West lighthouse. It was a lot of fun. Rob and I plan to go back there to eat when we go to Key West again this February.

License to Chill
Well here it is going to be the first day of fall tomorrow and I'm still scrapping summer pictures. I always seem to be a season or two behind on scrapping pages. These are photos from our summer vacation in Key Largo, Florida. I used the Cosmo Cricket "Snorkel" line of paper and embellishments. It's perfect paper for the summer. I used the Stampin Up! "Just Beachy" stamp set to make the fish and station wagon with the surf board. I stamped, used colored pencils, cut out, inked and pop dotted them before adhering to the page. For the bubbles on the fish I used Cloud Nine "Rain Dots". Thanks for checking out my pages.

Key West
This summer we went to Key West and this photo was taken while at the southernmost point in United States. We were only 90 miles from Cuba. I used the Basic Gray "Lemonade" paper set, chip stickers and element stickers. I also used a K & Co rub on. I did this sketch for Let's Scrap #120. Thanks for stopping by!
Key Largo
This is a Sketch Challenge I did for Jillibean Soup. The Jillibean Soup products I used were "Lentil" paper, "Soup Staples" paper and a green journaling sprout. These are photos of Rob and I while in Key Largo, Florida. We were on a glass bottom boat ride to see the coral reefs. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog.

Glass Bottom Boat in Key Largo
These pictures were taken in Key Largo aboard a glass bottom boat we took out to the reef at John Pennecamp State Park. It was a great boat ride and we saw beautiful fish through the glass bottom. I loved taking photos of the birds on the ride out to the reef. I used the Cosmo Cricket "Girl Friday" kit I won one week from 52 Sketches 52 Weeks.
Scuba Diving in Key Largo
This layout was done for Let's Scrap #117 using Fancy Pants "Daydreams" by Nancie Rowe-Janitz. I chose to use these photos from Key Largo. Rob and Andy were going diving and Heather and I joined them on the boat and we went snorkeling. It was great snorkeling above them while they dived and watching them. The fish were absolutely amazing on the reef and I am so glad we went.
